Christmas is the perfect time of year to add a few new recipes to your baking repertoire – particularly ones that get children involved in baking and cake decorating. It’s a wonderful way to teach them a few new skills while getting them even more excited about the big day (as if they need any help!). And we’re sure they’ll love the adorable penguins on this month’s front cover just as much as we do – they’re perfect for all the family, young and old alike. If they’ve got you in the mood for Christmas baking, we’ve got plenty more delicious festive treats for you to try this month. After all it really is never too early to get ahead and start planning your Christmas baking list to avoid the last-minute rush on Christmas Eve. Our particular favourites are the Christmas snow cake on page 13 which will give guests a great surprise when they cut into it, the tasty mince Bakewell tart on page 31, and the sticky spiced clementine pavlova on page 83.
We’ve also been inspired by the new trend for mash-up baking – you’ll find some delicious recipes to get you started from page 65. Basically, choose two of your favourite treats, combine them together and you have an even better new bake – ingenious!
